Happy Weekend!!! (photo taken before today's blizzard) Hope your weekend is going well! It's a relaxing, snowy day here - perfect for cuddling up with a comfort drink, some knitting or reading, and a cat.  Since Thanksgiving, we have had so much snow.  Every other time I turn around, there's a winter storm warning alert on my phone.  But I don't mind it.  I've always loved snow - and this is the snowiest winter I've seen in a while! Now, it might be white outside, but inside this farmhouse, pops of color are brightening the place up! One idea shared with us was painting the doors of the upstairs hallway a variety of colors.  So, we went for it! End of the Hiatus I'm back after a brief hiatus! The past couple weeks of November were turned upside down.  I came down with a nasty cold that finally cured after a week and a half.  And being that I'm still new at my job, there was no sick time available.  Working through sickness was tough, but I made it.  On top of that, there was a death in the family, so I had to travel a lot between NJ and PA - while still being under the weather.  Oy... Now that things are a bit calmer - hopefully for a while - we've been focusing on decorating the house, aside from painting and fixing up the rooms.  Pictures are going up in addition to fall and winter decor.  It's an interesting mix, but it works!  Today's post will showcase the highlights of our farmhouse style !   Wallpaper everywhere This house has been more work than anticipated - and I mean, a lot! From ripping out carpets to stripping walls and everything in between, it's a trip and then some.  That's not to say the work isn't rewarding.  Putting your own personal touch in an old farmhouse just creates a unique sense of joy.   The transformation is coming along, the bathroom being the fastest of all the rooms.  Some ideas had been tossed around in terms of color and for some reason, we went with a grey color scheme. Giving the bathroom some love You might recall seeing some brazen pink underneath the wallpaper. I present to you the upgrade! The wallpaper, installed in 1979, had aged to the point that most of it came off in large chunks.  The original color was some kind of off-white and the years were a bit unkind to it. Priming! Carpet in the bathroom... I'm back with more as promised in the last post! This week has been a doozy with working overtime at my new job and trying to balance house renovations with an abnormal sleep schedule.  It's a lot and somehow, I have the energy to accomplish all of it.  Good thing I have lots of coffee (and something of a weekend to sleep) to keep me going! One of the big tasks that needed special attention was the bathroom.  And oh my, carpet in the bathroom is something I've never seen before.  Never mind the fact that luan was underneath it - the poor carpet had been so worn and full of dirt by the time we pulled it up.  In terms of practicality, linoleum or tile is more conducive to the bathroom environment.  Because of the condition of the floor, as you'll see soon, it was better to create a new flooring level before laying down linoleum.
