Happy Weekend!!!
(photo taken before today's blizzard)
Hope your weekend is going well! It's a relaxing, snowy day here - perfect for cuddling up with a comfort drink, some knitting or reading, and a cat. Since Thanksgiving, we have had so much snow. Every other time I turn around, there's a winter storm warning alert on my phone. But I don't mind it. I've always loved snow - and this is the snowiest winter I've seen in a while!
Now, it might be white outside, but inside this farmhouse, pops of color are brightening the place up!
One idea shared with us was painting the doors of the upstairs hallway a variety of colors. So, we went for it!
Whimsical Southwestern Vibes
The orange hue in the hallway kind of gives off a southwestern type of feeling. My sister tackled all of these doors by herself and let's just say, she did an awesome job!
First color of the bathroom door: lavender
Next was waging war against the attic door with Citri-Strip
Ahh, perfect!
Nothing stops this girl!
First coat
Came out really nice! The lighting doesn't quite do it justice
To brighten up the space, sister chose a nice yellow tone to offset the green color scheme in her room
Future guest room door
My door is the only one with lights around it, haha!
Since the lavender didn't quite match the rest of the hallway, sister changed it to a dark purple
Final result
All the doors together look absolutely stunning! It's amazing how just a simple paint job can do so much for a space!
Eventually, I plan to put lights around all the doorways. As I've mentioned in previous blog posts, I'm obsessed with hanging white lights everywhere - so once I get a few boxes of string lights, this hallway will be popping with more than just color.
Future updates
There's a lot of work still being done on the house, but it has come a long way since we've been out here. Thing I like about old houses is that they're like a clean slate for creative people. And this house was the perfect canvas! Every room you walk into - with the exception of four - has its own unique color scheme, much like our old house. I can't wait to update the old servant's quarters and guest room!
Until next time!
